NEW PURCHASE TO LEAD DAYTONA 500!
New Engine 27 Ready For Action.

Pinellas Suncoast Fire & Rescue has recently purchased a new Engine from Pierce to replace the current Engine 27. The new vehicle was on view recently at a Fire Expo in Jacksonville Florida. The engine has now made the Daytona Speedway in Florida it's temporary home for the next few weeks, whilst the NASCAR races take place at the speedway. However, the Engine is not on show this time, it will be used by the Fire Crews at Daytona to provide Fire Protection to the fans, race teams, their equipment and facilities at the speedway.
However, the new Engine does have one very special task to perform whilst it is there... Engine 27 will lead the Preliminary Event around the track at this years Daytona 500 Races on February 17th 2002.
Once the races are completed, the Engine will make it way back to Pierce for some minor modifications, and will then make Station 27 it's new home, where it will be shortly placed in service.
